European Researchers' Night, 25th September
Sharper is the European night for researchers in Perugia, Ancona and L'Aquila, where the aim is to share researchers' passion for excellence and results, and to promote the importance of research to younger people. It is a public event and festival in which many researchers take part in various activities, creating interactive public presentations of their work. It is mainly focused around science, innovation and technology, but showcases research in general.
The highlights of this particular Sharper event were the 'treasure hunt' for young people which took place throughout the historic centre of L'Aquila - including some of the more damaged and abandoned areas - and an open air concert at the Parco del Castello. The main research showcase took place in the main square, Piazza Duomo, but there were 'Science Happy Hours' in bars throughout the centre.
