The cDRS-thought blog is currently active!

cDRS-thought, a platform for critical architectural journalism, was founded by myself and a few colleagues at the University of Cambridge. As the journalistic arm of cDRS, the purpose of the blog is to build a growing collection of column-length opinion pieces on architecture, urbanism, culture, society, politics, current affairs in general (and much more!) as a way of sharing our ideas, honing our writing and developing some publications. It is hoped the initial result will be a growing resource that becomes effectively peer-reviewed by ourselves and others, where we become more involved and informed in each other’s work and develop ideas collectively.

Our ultimate intention is to approach the national press having produced a series of suitable articles. The idea is to use what we know to put together a collection of opinion pieces on architecture and the built environment informed by our research (though not simply disseminating our MPhil pilot theses) for a wider – generally non-architectural – audience. Our aim is to open a critical discussion about architecture outside of the usual architectural channels. Additionally, we envisage this could create more publication opportunities, such as websites, pamphlets, books, etc. and become a real resource both academically and professionally.

It would be great to receive feedback, both on the articles and the website itself!
